"Always take the less
trodden
path" in life
'IT DOES NOT MATTER IF A FALLING
TREE IN A FOREST MAKES A
SOUND OR NOT, WHAT MATTERS
IS WHERE IT FALLS' - PAUL COELHO
Coastweek -
- Hash number 175 was held at the Bamburi Forest
Trails as the Footie World Cup was still
on.
An intimate
pack consisting of the Grand Master R'Hole, Kama Sutra,
Blondie Loong Hot One, and yours truly turned up for the
Bash.
Ever read Paul
Coelho and his philosophy ? Here are lessons for life
according to the GM R'Hole;
.
Lesson No. 1: "Always take the
less trodden path"
|
This
said as he led pack haphazardly down various
trails. The tall pine trees standing at attention
like a guard of honour all along the
trails.
Up a
steep rock outcrop, nice view of the green needle
like treetops against the dark rain swollen
clouds, and down again.
Left
turn and 'didn't we pass through here just
now?'
The
point of the less trodden path is that you may get
lost but it is interesting, expounded the
GM.
What was
that about the Chinese and interesting lives
? |

Coastweek -
- Rare sight
of the Hash Grand Master quaffing fresh'
mnazi'. |
.
Lesson No. 2: "Women should walk
at least three feet behind the
men".
The chattering
Kama Sutra and Blondie were well versed in this as we
waited for them to catch up for the umpteenth
time.
.
Lesson No.3: "It does not matter
if a falling tree in a forest makes a sound or not,
what matters is where it
falls."
Must have been
a lot wind recently, as a number of trees had fallen
exposing their roots and leaving holes in the
ground.
The trail
ahead was completely blocked by one felled giant except
for a very small passage at the
bottom.
"Feels like
real Hashing" commented the GM as he crawled through the
tunnel on all fours.
Kama Sutra and
Blondie demonstrated the doggie style coming through the
tunnel - another lesson to learn.
.
Lesson No.4: "Not everything in
life is as it appears".
Past the
airstrip and the 5 KM mark, the hashettes still
nattering away 10 feet behind.
Thought the
airstrip burnt down but seems like business as
usual.
Lots of partly
eaten mangoes on the ground must be monkeys
about.
.
Lesson No.5: "When life presents
a shortcut, take it"
propounded the
portly GM as he marched determinately down the shortcut
cutting 2KM off the trail.
A grove of
exotic palms and pools with young couples strolling
shyly hand in hand, led back to
reception.
Down Downs
were had at the Sunset Terrace bar where the GM imparted
his final lesson; "Pay for the lady's drink" by paying
the bill.
A toast to
Pauline Kinoti and other staff of the Bamburi Cement
Company for the wonderful settings of the Forest
Trails.
